My friend Carrie of Frugal Foodie Mama is pretty amazing.
I’m sure we’ve all experienced that feeling of utter helplessness when someone we care about gets bad news, usually followed by a need to help, to fix it, to Do Something. When her friend Kate was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer earlier this year, Carrie decided to channel her inner Do Something and has been hard at work organizing an online bake sale to benefit Kate and her family.
The full details and guidelines can be found on Carrie’s site, but the short version is this: a group of food bloggers have come together to offer some of their delicious treats and other goodies for an online auction. By bidding through the Baking For Kate Facebook page, you have the opportunity to do something sweet both for yourself and for Kate’s family.
And it should go without saying that I wanted to help, too. I’m not a food blogger (unless Instagram counts), but when Carrie asked me about making a set of recipe cards, I jumped at the chance. One frustrated weekend of crafting later, I was finally happy with what I’d created – and a set of 24 of my (brand new! not yet available for sale!) recipe cards is being paired for bidding with a dry erase menu board – just perfect for menu planning! (Or, if you’re like me, hanging in your kitchen and doodling on.)
